I Don’t Sleep Right

I don’t sleep right
I got too much to do
I never got done whut I’s
supposed to do
not time t’learn this old
dog any new tricks

I don’t sleep right
Gots the weight comin’
down on my shoulders
‘n I cain’t bear up to it
too much longer

I don’t sleep right
Hungry grips my belly
like a ol’ gnawing dog
but folks say I’m a bigun
so I stay shy of my
cravings most times

I don’t sleep right
The wind feels like
death a’coming and
I ain’t in the shape
to run too far from
Him these days

I don’t sleep right
Got a mess of work
and a pile of dirty clothes
and them dishes ain’t
washing themselves
so I s’pose I’ll tend to it

I don’t sleep right
Late night faces have
become my friends
and it’s too late to
worry about tomorrow
morning tonight anyhow
