Outside, The Wind Hows, And Inside . . .

they are really at me today
with demonic persistence

fast forwarding my tape
whispering every dreaded possibility
from inside

there is no shutting my ears to their voices
or blinding myself to their visions

i use the cbt techniques
challenging their absurdities
like a feeble and aged socrates
against a troop
of brown shirted goons
steeped in mein kampf
laughing and jeering
as they kick me around

i pull myself
from their dystopian wormholes
back into my body
and breath

over and over

only to be sucked back in

i lie down
stare at the ceiling
let them beat and rape me

try to sleep
while they’re doing it
and hope they’re gone
when i wake
