Tap The Veins Twice
Tap the syringe twice before injecting
whatever into your who-the-hell-cares stream.
The other junkies scatter themselves
in the settlement of flies. Your ex
visited last night (X marks the spot) before
the shelling awoke the anorexic baby
and before the man who saved two women from the guns
died saving his mind. His blood was blue.
You know this because you know everything
from the Lord of the flies once the chemical
fires your blood, floods your head.
Tap twice. The postman of pain
saves you from the dreams but who the hell cares.
