Ancrum Road, 4AM
The night-sky fades to watercolour
and paint streaks trickle down
its looming canvas,
Prussian blue diluting,
my feet float on further.
The streetlights blink out one by one,
trailing endlessly over the skyline
that my stare washes down.
The dark shrinks to an ink blot,
whispering away to nothing
as daylight stretches out across.
