Shame And Embarrassment

Shame and embarrassment.
Having to explain to people
Why I haven’t got the money
That I owe them, that I swore
They’d get today.
Times like this make me
Want to just die. A real
Swift suicide, no need for
Explanations, no need to
Humiliate myself again.
But my cowardice and my
Addictions keep me here.
Lying and humiliating
Myself again, again and
Again.
Whatever, I don’t think I
Can take much more of
This.

His debut book, a collection of poetry entitledΒ Detritus Of The Drunken NightΒ was published by Cajun Mutt Press in April 2019.
