been loving you too long to stop now

a cool breeze will enter
the room right as the
gun enters my mouth

some sad song will be
playing on the old stereo

just soft enough that the
voice will slowly enter
my soul

no one will ever understand
why otis redding was playing

they will never pick up on
the clues or bother to discover
the lengthy note at the end
of the bed

no need to investigate or
figure it out

not every destiny is happy
or a glorious destination
greater than this desolation

nothing could fill the emptiness

and the last resort should be
as fatal as the threat sounds

we’ll all rest a little easier
knowing that a chapter has
finally ended

now they can realize just
how good i really was
