Cajun Mutt Press Featured Writer 02/05/20

it’s the buzz of the neon
down the block
and the moths
that tap at my windowpane

it’s the street lamp
that flickers halfway on
and bleeds its restless light
through my broken slats

it’s the thump
of the bass going by
like the heartbeat
of the living night
trying to bust in on me

it’s you
out there in the dark
moving to its rhythms
as you dance
for another
