Off the Path of Herbal Peace

We sit in pews.
The wind of age blows
From faith to faith-

We who went
The herbal way
Find the path of oil & water?

We break the heart of verdure
Speak all manner of mysteries
Eating puny flesh & blood.

Physically, these have changed nothing.
Still, we press on in belief
Of the estimation hereafter.

Otherwise, oil & water
Have wet us down,
Spite the wrath of festal green?

Otherwise, flesh & blood
Have let us down,
Off the path of herbal peace?
