Response to a 60 something year old orphan

Lost my mother a few years ago
my dad’s cancer goes into remission
every now and then
and sometimes I wonder
if we die of death
or get weary
from a sense
of multilayered
existential vertigo…
we die of death
there’s no beauty
when your glazed eyed mother
shits the bed
sinking in the middle
husk of sun
drawing what you thought
was the universe
into shock
moments later
really dazed days
ashes flying across railroad tracks
the police
find your chemo saturated brain
pounding his chest
howling in despair
then you forget
about two years
of your life
