C.M.P. Featured Writers, July 2020

As summer heats up, July prompts us to strip the jackets and boots in favor of tank tops and sandals. Beach parties, barbecues, and nature hikes distract us from the heat that makes them possible…as long as you wear a mask and stay six feet apart this year. If 2020 were a person it’d be Annie Wilkes from Misery, and we’re all Paul Sheldon.

Talk about a wild year, and it isn’t even over yet! Everything seems amplified. The air is thick. Hopefully, we can look back on this year and learn something about ourselves. About humanity itself. Not only learn, but change a few things as well. Personally, I’m looking forward to the aliens coming back. But, if we don’t get our shit together they’re gonna end up exterminating us instead of making contact to reveal our true history. As far as we’ve evolved as a civilization I feel like a lot of things went ass-backward. And I don’t feel alone in that sentiment.

Okay, rant over, y’all know what time it is. Below you’ll find the featured writers for July, and I’m always open for submissions. Send 1-3 poems along with a bio and author photo to cajunmuttpress@gmail.com and I’ll get back with you soon as I can. Just finished filling October so I’ll be reading for November. Also, I’ve decided to start publishing books again after taking some time off during the outbreak. So keep your eyes peeled for a new release later this month. More details coming soon.
