CMP Featured Writers, June 2023

Invasion of the June beetles!! Opened the door last night and they were all over the place, clinging to the screen; crawling on the porch rail; flying around the light. Crazy how they show up right on time seemingly out of nowhere every year. I’ve seen a few here and there over the past week or so, but last night, they were having a party on the porch! Nature is a trip.

Below you’ll find the June featured writers. I’m always open for submissions! If you’d like to send some work, email 1-3 poems to cajunmuttpress@gmail.com with a bio and author photo.

Cajun Mutt Press has released five books so far in 2023! Shooting Myself in the Dark by Carrie Magness Radna, After the Fall by William Teets, Holding the Door for Barbarians by Mark Berriman, Tales From The Rotten Land by Efe Tusder, and our latest release was destructive paradox slips on banana peel by Joshua Martin. You can find them and a list of all other CMP titles by following this link:

Keep your eyes peeled for Written Under Duress by John Tustin on June 13th!! I reworked the cover, so I’ll have a new cover reveal for y’all over the weekend and more details about the book as well.

Stay tuned for updates, and keep kicking ass out there! My biggest joy is helping people get their words out to the world. Cajun Mutt Press wouldn’t exist without writers & readers.

destructive paradox slips on banana peel
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C47R267Y

“destructive paradox slips on a banana peel is another triumph in the prolific Martin canon—a resounding trumpet of nonsense bordering on good sense and forcing you to draw your own conclusions. You will be transported to Martin’s own idiosyncratic world of almost realised ideas that leap out of the shadows and pound you into submission; you will be delighted, you will be terrified, you will laugh out loud and you will cower in the corner—Martin’s words have this power and more. Read on! Read on! See what lessons Martin has to teach you!”
—Lachlan J McDougall, LJMcD Communications

“Joshua Martin’s paradox is loaded with image after striking image, the bizarre co-existing with the quotidian; the manufactured with the organic; the benign with the downright unsettling. Surreal and playful, vivid and vital with recurring base notes of the performance, serial disguise and orchestrated misdirection to which twenty-first century existence is routinely subjected.”
—A J Moore, author of m(p)atriarchive (Beir Bua Press)

“Joshua Martin is an expert cartographer of our collective smartphone psyche. In destructive paradox…, he not only maps these beleaguered mindscapes saturated by “collagen portraits” and “dissociative wincing” but alchemizes what he finds there into a surreal wonderland of daring, lexically deft poems.”
—Kenneth M. Cale, author of Greater Vegas Bleeds Into The Dreams of My Cryogenic Slumber

May 2023 Featured Writers

May is here, which means spring is upon us! It’s warming up outside, the trees are turning green, flowers are blooming, and it’s time to start cutting grass. My least favorite part, but it’s not so bad because our yard is kind of small. The thing I’m looking forward to the most is BBQ. I love to cook, especially grilling outside on a nice day.

Anyway, it’s time for the monthly rundown! Below you’ll find the May featured writer lineup. If you’d like to submit some work, send 1-3 poems to cajunmuttpress@gmail.com with a bio and author photo.

Keep your eyes peeled for our next book release, destructive paradox slips on banana peel by Joshua Martin!! I’ll have an official publication date and more details for y’all soon.

We have several books available as well! Tales From The Rotten Land by Efe Tusder, Holding the Door for Barbarians by Mark Berriman, After the Fall by William Teets, and Shooting Myself in the Dark by Carrie Magness Radna are our 2023 releases so far. Follow the link below to see all CMP titles.

I’m also working on several manuscripts, and have a few people I still need to get back to. Please be patient with me. Be on the lookout for books from John Tustin, Frogg Corpse, Ian Mullins, Timothy Dodd, Merritt Waldon, Aleathia Drehmer, John Drudge, and more!

That’s all for now. I’ll have more info for y’all soon about upcoming books. Keep kicking ass out there.
