Affection for You

It was gleaming
with the gaze

Affection is dumb
Affection is deaf

Like a speaker it did not speak about
the matter
like a listener it did not listen to

Till the moment of parting
it kept waiting in the eyes

In the thick green
of the desolate woods
A tune is ringing faintly

Gazing at the eyes
I want to see

Is it still alive

Oh dear
No way, no way

Cleaving the heart
comes out
a curious sigh

In the teary gaze
is it still alive

Cajun Mutt Press Reviews: Hesitancies by Sanjeev Sethi

Intelligent Water

★★★★★

Sanjeev Sethi’s poetry has the ebb and flow of intelligent water. ‘Hesitancies’ is a river of words that will take you on a journey to the far corners of the poet’s mind. Sanjeev packs enormous emotion into small spaces within this collection, some poems being only 5 lines long, and he is a true wordsmith. This book is a beautiful representation of the craft. Seamlessly shifting between the subjects of childhood, family, life experiences, and simple observations written from a philosophical point of view. This is an incredible collection of poetry, highly recommended.

Illumination

When I hear my cutis snivel
I know it’s hankering.
In your sufficiency is solace.
Emotions legitimize appetence.
Words fink on feelings.
How do I hush up this
inharmoniousness?
Ephemeris chalks another chart:
this coziness isn’t for me.
When I grok I can make yours truly cry,
I score I must be close to myself.
In spite of shortcomings,
how does one string it?
In this lies the fiber to fulfillment.

Time and Life to Death

Filth, they call it ubiquitous; obnoxious, on the streets, in heaps, in lanes, scattered. Life goes daily, usually on, oblivious of filth, or death, goes on with ease. Unfettered feet, undaunted – of pilgrims, of people, with purpose, or strollers, the timeless lanes, narrow, space ample for all who come, who live and die there. Disgusting, the filth, reflected sometimes, on faces. Cow dung, house waste, refuse and grime, scattered, removed, then scattered again, repeat performance, seen and felt on skin, in nose, on feet through eyes. Yet feet go on, undaunted, eternally, as time and life run to death, from flesh to fire to ashes.

Bombination

Post-booze: I would guddle you.
When sequences fly across
windscreen of wretchedness
I feel contrite and curse:
hormones driving the demeanor.

Geographical distances hasten the gaps.
To seasons —
soiled or steady
inclement intrusions
add their indentations.

The persona is spiky and scared:
unknown outweighs the known.
Repetitiousness in questioning
snatches the softness,
the pugilist’s stable develops.
