Eclipse 2
I see eclipses everywhere
Darkness swallowing light
Fading slowly from the brightness
The eeriest interim
lingering, mouth agape
waiting for the shine to return
But, sometimes
the flame burns out
flickering embers snuffed
golden transitions cyanotic
mercury plummets
hypoxia
sometimes
the world stops turning
and everything is black
alone in the path of totality
